Want a peace of the Beatles?
Well, then be prepared to pay a hefty sum of about 800,000 American dollars.
Here’s the link to the news story.
Apparently Lennon’s handwritten, original lyrics to “Give Peace a Chance” were sold at an auction for over 800k. The drum skin that appears on the album cover for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band went for even more at about 1.1 million.
All that I really have to say…or ask, is why? I realize the Beatles are a legendary band, and yeah, it’d be cool to have that drum skin or those lyrics, but they’re still just pieces of material. Not even decent material, cheap material like paper. Just because someone famous wrote on them the price automatically shoots up 7,272,727 times. *sigh*
Here’s some Bo Burnham. He’s hilarious and only 17.
lawl.
Yes, I think 800k for something like that is a little… odd. Now maybe if it was the gun used to shoot Lennon or his tombstone, I would be more understanding. But lyrics? Aw hell nawh!
I’d watch the video, but Youtube’s being screwy for me right now. ): But I will latah!
