  2. Speaking along these same lines, notice how it has sort of become the hipster thing to hate on hipster things? Like now everyone’s all I HATE RADIOHEAD AND NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL, AND I’M BETTER THAN YOU FOR IT. Rather than I LOVE RADIOHEAD AND NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL, AND I’M BETTER THAN YOU FOR IT.

  3. Oh, then I have been ahead of this trend for so long! Seriously, it’s actually been the reverse for me — but only with Radiohead. I started out hating them so bad. Partly because their fans were elitist snobs who didn’t listen to much music OTHER than Radiohead, and partly because I didn’t like the music. Since having a girlfriend who loves Radiohead, I’ve given them a second chance. OK Computer and Pablo Honey are fine albums, but I STILL really hate stuff like Kid A. Their whole discography except for most of Pablo Honey and parts of Kid A is just… dreary. And I get that that’s supposed to kind of be the point, but that’s the issue I have with Joy Division too. That Joy Division / Interpol / She Wants Revenge side of post-punk just gets to me. I find it tedious, I guess.

But yahh, it’s gotten pretty hip to hate all these bands because now indie is the new cool thing to do. Emo’s dying and so all the kids are coming over to indie. So now the cool thing to do is to find /even indier/ bands than the indie newbies to show them up.

    I think.

But yeah, I’ve never liked the big hipster bands out there. Pavement, Radiohead, NMH, uh… whatever else it is they listen to. Maybe they just listen to three bands?
