War on Radio has officially launched!

leave a comment »

Great news everyone. My uncle at Workshed has kindly provided us hosting for War on Radio. You can find us at War on Radio in the coming minutes! For those of you who write for this blog, I will send out a Google Groups announcement. You’re going to need to re-register. I can provide you guys with email accounts or maybe just one staff account for the site. But you can have your very on sexy address now!

For readers, bookmark us, tell your friends, register on the site, leave lots of sexy comments, and enjoy.

Again, like I said, I will notify all writers (it might take awhile to get a hold of TJ because he’s off at some camp) as soon as possible and try to regroup everyone. The site should be operational within a few minutes. I just have to run the install script and finish the ftp upload.

So, may the Force be with us! I’ll have a review of the Secret Chiefs 3, Big Business, Melvins concert I attended tonight up as soon as I can. It depends on whether or not I’m awake enough to write once I finish the install!

Cavalera Conspiracy show that I went to

with 3 comments

So, I told a few people here about the free tickets to see Cavalera Conspiracy. It was a fun show. A lot of energy from all the bands that played especially Throwdown, Dillinger Escape Plan, and definitely Cavalera Conspiracy.

The reason I’m making this post is because of what happened at a Throwdown set. The show was pretty much full of Metalheads and a few scene kids alike. When Throwdown started playing the show, all the tough hardcore kids started Hardcore Dancing in the middle of the room. There just being rude to everyone because when they hit someone, they just won’t stop. And when people were telling them to stop, they just continue with there act and just kicking and hitting everyone.  I guess this caught the singers attention and told the kids “Hey cheer up emo kids Eminem didn’t die”. This got the crowd laughing at this kids.

Second to last song on the Throwdown show, the singer purposley went down on the stage and into the middle to mosh with us, which was great. Then he came up to this hardcore kid who was hardcore dancing earlier (hewas wearing a black shirt, gym shorts and flat rimmed hat) and just openly tackled this kid, knocking him on his ass. Then the singer went back up on stage and they played the last song. The singer once again came down to the crowd and approached the same kid. The kid pushed the singer back, then the singer just smacked this kid in the face. You can just tell the kid was about to cry. It was hilarious.

Long story short, if your gonna piss off metalheads in the concets, especially on a Throwdown show, be weary of people literally kicking your ass.

Indeed, Idolator, faithful watchers of the Courtney Love blog scene that they are, has reported that the woman who once intoned a request to have her anus waxed (life advice: do not Google this news story) has decided maybe it would be a good idea to stop blogging. She regrets to inform us that, “LACK OF GRAMMATICAL CORRECTNESS AND SPELLING MAKES ONE LOOK ON DRUGS FOR SOME REASON.” Hear, hear, I say. Also, I intend to put that on a t-shirt posthaste.

Alice Cooper tries to save Amy Winehouse. Amy Winehouse’s father gives insights as to why she’s nuts. (Girls with Low Self-Esteem!)

with 2 comments

Well, it sure is nice of ol’ Alice Cooper to give some kind words out to Amy Winehouse. It’s not-so-nice of Amy Winehouse’s dad to say he’d rather have a wax impression of his daughter than the real deal. How kind! Clearly this moves her one step forward, closer to recovery.

Well, so, it looks like Britney Spears’s mom killed a 12 year old boy in 1975. But it’s okay Mrs. (Ms.?) Spears, in 1975, who wasn’t killing 12 year olds? Really? Who among us can say they were so pure in the ’70s? This reminds me of the, as far as I know, unsubstantiated rumor that her mom slept with Kevin Federline.

And that’s your music gossip for the day.

Darker My Love in the LA Times

leave a comment »

Awesome profile of the band and preview of their upcoming CD, 2, in the LA Times.

Darker My Love is a really good band. I highly recommend their first CD. I hope the second is just as good.

I was going to see them at Monolith, but I think they dropped out. They’re opening for the Dandy Warhols here later in September, though, so I’ll get a chance to see them then.

Here’s the video for their song Two Ways Out:

And oh mah god, I just found out that Dressy Bessy is playing Monolith! You guys who live in the area (Jake and Sarah) should definitely come if you get the chance! Last year was awesome and between A Place to Bury Strangers, Dressy Bessy, Night Marchers, Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Silversun Pickups, and stuff like CSS, Holy Fuck, Cut Copy, and the Fratellis, it should be awesome again.

In Soviet Russia, emo bans YOU (Sorry, I had to)

with 3 comments

But apparently, in Russia Russia, Russia bans emo. Now let’s be honest: adults have never been able to figure out what’s going on with kids on a mass scale. And any kid who tries to explain it to them isn’t trusted because, well, they aren’t an adult! I’m not saying this out of sympathy for whiny kids with hair covering half their faces, more because this simply has nothing to do with emo at all. This has to do with scene kids who hang out at malls (or in Russia, do they hang out at nuclear missile silos?) and cry into their coffee ice creams. Obviously Russia is known for some degree of historical revisionism and propaganda here, but an entire country up in arms over a fashion statement and a few attention whores is definitely worth a few chuckles. Also, is it just me, or is it ironic that a country that about a generation ago was torturing dissenters is now trying to ban scene kid garb? Waaait, I guess that’s just par for the course!

I like how Siberia is already implementing these anti-scene kid laws. You’d think they’d want music you could easily torture people in the gulags to.
